Thats right, avoid Danby at all costs. Even if its free, you can probably still get something better elsewhere.

I know *I* will never buy another Danby anything as long as I live. They are GREAT at putting a nice package on a hunk of shit, and thats about all they do well. Avoid like the plague.

Okay, so not only did our Danby 8k Portable AC decided it wanted to leak all over the fucking floor rather than dump water into the tank, but the pile of crap blew up this morning. I had been running it in dehumidify for a few weeks now, cause apparently, it doesn't toss water all over the floor in this mode.

My place smells of burnt PCB. Danby - avoid like the plague. I am steaming mad. If you drop $600 on a "quality appliance" it shouldn't die like 3 years after you buy it.

It claimed to have a 5 year warranty when I bought it, when I got the warranty card back (and if you check their website) they changed it to a 1 year warranty. GEE GO FIGURE? HAVE SOME RETURNS DIDYA?!

If I hadn't have been home at the time it decided to do this, it probably would have burnt my place down. So yeah, if you NEED an air conditioner, and your only choice is Danby -- save your money and spend it on beer. Much better long-term investment imho.
